Finally saw Ram Leela...It had all the signature tones a Sanjay Leela
Bhansali film should have...Grand sets, colourful costumes, typically
expensive song and dance sequences,Love and war,Flesh and bones and yes
off course blood....The story is usually an adaptation of the
Shakespearean tragedy Romeo and Juliet with an Indian or better to say
Gujju tastes, accents, culture and tradition........Blood and guns speak
more here than the characters itself..Some sequences where beautifully
shot....But some scenes where too lingering, specially the one where Ram
chants over Leela's name at their incomplete wedding night..Some scenes
where nauseatically violent. The make out scene between Ram and Leela
was perfectly shot in aesthetic white linens and smoky ambience..could
not help but like it.....Most dramatic scenes where shot in slo-mo,with
intelligent use of silhouettes,
blacks, whites and scarlet reds.....Deepika, the Leela of the film was
justly an emotional, dewy-eyed, short tempered and aggressive
Juliette....the perfect lady love.....Loved her colouful bandhini skirts
and sequinned lehengas.....And Ranbeer....or Ram was mouth droppingly
delicious.....could not take my eyes off from his shirtless sweat soaked
gleaming abs.....justifyed the gujju accent.....and yes justifyed Being
Romeo, our desi Ram who speaks of love in the time of war...could not
forget Supriya Pathak's Ba for a single moment....Expected more
drama, more perfection from BLACK and Hum Dil De Chuke Sanam Sanjay Leela
Bansali.....While leaving the cinema hall my eyes where full, and heart
too...but something was missing.....compared to his other films ,felt
that the imprint was not so strong as it should be,like any typical
Bansali film.....
